The Stitch Files - Feather Stitch

This is one of my favorite stitches. I made a sample of wool, perle cotton and embroidery thread overlaying the stitches.

Back in 2008 I worked a sampler book which I did not want to destroy. So I just glued a photo of my book into the files.

Here is the content of my booklet. Some variations ...

... different threads, from sewing thread to wool and strips of fabric ....

... and some beaded variations.

Wow! This is a beautiful collection of samples - I especially love the look of this stitch worked in the thicker threads eg wool, so must try this soon! Thanks very much for the inspiration, Viv

It's one of my favourite stitches as well. Of course, I never thought to use different types of yarn, thread and floss. I'll be doing that just as soon as I get the holiday stitching, shopping and wrapping done.
